About Naib Subedar in the Indian Army
The Naib Subedar is the first JCO (Junior Commissioned Officer) rank — a significant career milestone. Naib Subedars serve as platoon commanders, company quartermaster havildars, or technical specialists. They hold a commission from the President of India (Viceroy's Commissioned Officer tradition) and are addressed as 'Sahab' by Other Ranks. They bridge the gap between NCOs and commissioned officers.
